The granola bar: our excursion guides’ favorite and an old standby on adventures. This nutritious, portable (and, most importantly, delicious) snack is prepared by the Tierra Hotels team for its guests.

We love to see the smiles on the faces of people who try our foods, because they are homemade with much love. For that reason, we would like to share this recipe with you, so that you can also enjoy Tierra Hotel’s famous granola bar with your family.

Granola Bar Recipe

Ingredients

  • 300 g. Oats
  • 300 g. Whole wheat cereal
  • 100 g. Walnuts
  • 100 g. Almonds
  • 100 g. Chocolate chips
  • 250 g. Honey
  • 300 g. Wheat flour
  • 300 g. Sugar
  • 250 g. Butter
  • 1 Egg

Instructions: Put all the ingredients together in bowl and mix them by hand or with a mixer. Bake them for 10 minutes at 170 °C (340 °F).

Variations on the granola bar recipe offer other flavors to enjoy. The walnuts, almonds and chocolate chips can be replaced with:

  • Apples and cinnamon: Add 100 g. dehydrated apple and 20 g. of cinnamon
  • Chia and blueberry: Add 100 g. of chia and 100 g. of dehydrated blueberry.
  • Pumpkin seed and apricot: Add 100 g. of pumpkin seeds and 100 g. of diced apricots.

Hi, I love the fact that you posted this recipe. We loved those granola bars while hiking to the Torre. One question though: what do you mean by “whole wheat cereal”? Any kind of grains? Or cereals like Nestle/Kellogs (already sweet)? Thank you!!

    • Hi Sophie! You can use any type of whole grains you have handy – it can be bran flakes, puffed rice or quinoa, or more oats. Be sure to let us know how they turn out!

These bars are amazing and I am delighted that you sent the recipe. I asked for it while at Tierra Patagonia but I did not make it home with it or my lovely water bottle! I am also wondering about the “whole wheat cereal”, if you could clarify? Thank you!
