Hiking in Torres del Paine – to the Grey Glacier.
Some of the most stunning and varied hiking in Torres del Paine is the trek to the Grey Glacier.
The day begins with a journey across the Torres del Paine national park by van, with striking views of snow-dusted mountains and glacial lakes. We begin at the Grey checkpoint by trekking through beautiful lenga forest, crossing the Pingo River on a hanging bridge, before we make the descent to Lake Grey, and trek along the pebble shore.
We hike for approximately 40 minutes on the beach, which is particularly striking in the fall, with deep shades of copper, red and ochre on the hillsides. On reaching the Grey peninsula, we take the trail which leads around to the headland, where you can sea the ice floes that have drifted down from the Grey Glacier, which can be seen in the distance.
We finish our Torres del Paine hiking on the far side of the peninsula, following the beach back through the wood to the van waiting to take us back to relax and unwind at the Tierra Patagonia Hotel.
At Tierra Patagonia, our experienced guides offer a variety of half-day and full-day options for hiking in Patagonia. One of the most iconic Patagonia Treks is the full-day hike to the Three Towers in the Torres del Paine National Park.
If you are interested in hiking the Torres del Paine W trek, but also appreciate comfort and pampering, you will be interested to know that you can hike to the main destinations on the W trek, whilst staying at Tierra Patagonia. Each day, our experienced guides will take you on a hike to a different part of the W trail and in the evenings you will be able to relax, in the indoor heated pool or enjoy a massage treatment and ofcourse, the gourmet dining and Chilean wines on offer at our boutique eco-luxury lodge.
